The campaign committee met and we decided to hold a march and rally in Easton next Friday. We were pleased to welcome Faruk Choudhury to our meeting and talk about developing our links with the Muslim community in the City. Faruk is the labour canditate standing against Lib Dem Cllr Keily in the Easton ward of Bristol. It is Cllr Keily who has pushed through the Council's privatisation plans. Keily is the executive member for Adult and Community Care and he hangs by a thread in his job with Labour having already decided he needs to go and the Torys putting him 'on probation'.
We will protest on Keily's home turf and the campaign committee is tasked with organising a strong turn out from the Home care Assistants for our afternoon of demonstration.
How can you support a labour candidate when they voted for the privatistaion plans to begin with? Wasn't 50% plus of the homecare privatised before the lib dems got their dirty hands on it? Have they seen the error of their ways? Then why is labour still privatising our hospitals, schools and anything else they can get their money grabbing paws on? Labour are just as bad as the Lib dems! Neither of them represent what the people want and neither of them will deliver!
ReplyDeleteLabour didnt vote for privatisation. Yes, its true that they let the private agencies pick up work as the Home Care market expanded in Bristol. They also let the pensions and shopping and laundry work go to the agencies. But they never tried to do what the Lib Dems are attempting now. When Labour were in control of Bristol they never tried to privatise personal care against the wishes of the workforce and the service users.
